Spent Sunday evening at Assheton Arms .Our meal was a disgrace for a 5 star hotel .They were very busy when we arrived at 3pm .My husband and I are 86 we had to walk in the wind and rain to our rooms .Thanks to our son and daughter and two nice young waiters .It should be explained the rooms are not in the main building. My daughter came up from Surrey and my son from Kent . We,ve had lovely times together in hotels all over the north west this was the only bad experience we have had .The breakfast Monday morning was also disappointing..
Had a really nice meal. Steak was cooked perfectly and best peppercorn sauce ever! Starter and desert were also really good.
Fantastic historic building. Great local food served in a wonderful snug atmosphere. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Local beers and wonderful wines. Couldn't ask for more. Get here on a summer evening and sit outside with views up to Pendle Hill. Superb
Wife booked us a table for New Years day lunch. We were seated quickly and were waited on by courteous staff. The food was excellent, really well presented and very tasty. The vegetables were cooked perfectly. The choice was varied with a couple of vegetarian options as well as traditional dishes. Was reasonably priced for the quality of the dishes. A very pleasant atmosphere with professional staff. We will be going there again
Excellent quality accommodation in a beautiful location with friendly staff and a nice pub restaurant. Most of the bedrooms are in neighbouring buildings to the pub, for example the Old Post Office, and are fitted out to a very high standard. Our bed was big and comfortable and the bathroom very spacious. The only niggles were that we could hear other guests through the thin walls and we could have done with a less miserly quantity of the complimentary shower gel.
